Singapore’s widely used taxi booking app will get a facelift, with new services starting tomorrow.
ComfortDelGro’s taxi booking application will be relaunched as CDG Zig as part of the Group’s plan to consolidate its main ground transportation solutions, while making it easier for customers to access the various services it has on a single platform.
CDG Zig is a merger of ComfortDelGro’s taxi booking app and its now disused lifestyle app Zig. It will offer users taxi and ride-sharing booking features and lifestyle options like restaurant reservations, as well as new services like electric vehicle (EV) charging. Over time, it will continue to grow with the addition of more ComfortDelGro services to its range of activities, from car rentals to driving lessons.
Mr. Jackson Chia, CEO of ComfortDelGro’s Private Mobility Group1 (PMG), said, “The decision to rebrand the Group’s applications into an all-in-one CDG Zig application is a step forward in our strategy to empower our customers access to our range of mobility and lifestyle offers via a unified digital platform. We have retained our core services such as taxi booking and restaurant booking at CDG Zig, and have also added EV charging service as our latest offering as more fleet and vehicle owners switch to EVs. We plan to gradually add other services offered by the Group, such as private bus, car rental, learner driving and medical transport, to the app. The intent is to market our wide range of transportation solutions to bring greater convenience to the various communities we serve. »
Explaining the decision to decommission Zig and merge it with the popular CDG Taxi app, Mr. Chia said, “We launched Zig in 2021 as a foray into the lifestyle mobility scene. It was an eye-opening experience and allowed us to develop our skills in this new area of activity without interrupting our service offerings to our taxi users. Now is the time to merge the two so that we can make it easier for our customers to get everything on one app. »
The revived CDG Zig will appear on users’ phones as a stylized “Z” icon. Existing users of the ComfortDelGro taxi booking app will not need to re-register with the new app and will only need to update their app. Their existing favorite locations and rides, in-app cashless payment options, promo codes and ComfortPoints will automatically transfer to the new app. New users will be prompted to save their details the first time they log in to the new app.
EV owners will be able to use the new CDG Zig app to locate and navigate to the nearest available EV charger operated by the group’s joint venture, ComfortDelGro Engie Pte Ltd. Currently, there are around 40 charging points listed in the app and will grow to over 600 charging stations by the end of 2022.
CDG Zig will be available on Apple App Store, Google Play store and Huawei AppGallery from tomorrow.
