Rewards for Longtime Melton Taxi Drivers

The seven Melton Borough taxi drivers after receiving seniority awards

Alan Bagshaw worked as a local taxi driver for 48 years, while Michele Addesso, Robert Croft, Lee Franklin and Brian Parker racked up 40 years.

Special long service awards were also presented to Glynn Hudson and Andy Martin, taxi drivers for 35 years.

Melton Mayor Councilor Alan Hewson presented the honors at a ceremony to officers of Parkside Council in recognition of their dedicated service and role as ambassadors for the area.

Councilor Alison Freer, Borough Council portfolio holder for climate, access and engagement, said: “Taxi drivers are an important part of our Borough of Melton community, providing a service which supports the residents of the borough for various reasons and occasions.

“This event highlights the drivers’ impressive commitment and dedication to their careers.

“Taxi drivers will routinely be the first contact visitors to Melton talk to, and it’s important that we appreciate the work these ambassadors do for our town.”

The council says these awards recognize the important contribution taxis make to the community of Melton and recognize that it can be a lifelong job for many who drive them.
