New regulations adopted for call taxi services – ARAB TIMES

KUWAIT CITY, August 28: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that its General Traffic Department will start revamping taxi and taxi call services in line with the modernization of the traffic system, starting from 1 october.

The new regulations, based on Ministerial Decrees 421 (1988) and 182 (2004) are made under the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, according to a press release. statement from the Ministry’s General Department of Public Relations and Media Security.

The regulations are part of the Ministry’s Higher Security Command’s drive to improve services provided by taxi drivers and provide better public transportation services to citizens and residents, the statement added.

The new procedures will include the auditing of taxi company owners and the requirements that must be met in accordance with the Highway Code, its implementing regulations and related ministerial decisions. This will also include work in uniform, with working hours set in accordance with labor law, in coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower.

The statement explained that taxi drivers must carry a fitness card which would be renewed annually in coordination with the Ministry of Health. He said all taxi cars must meet all technical and hygiene requirements both inside and outside when loading passengers. The ministry warned that the driver’s license would be revoked in the event of repeated serious traffic violations and that the driver would be sent for permanent expulsion, in addition to registering a note on the owner of the taxi company .
