The government of Uttar Pradesh has found a solution to avoid traffic jams from Agra to Mathura. The Yogi Adityanath government has decided to launch helicopter taxis for tourists in Agra and Mathura. The UP government has issued a tender for the construction, operation and maintenance of the heliport in the two cities. The government has further issued a notification and the pre-offer is to be arranged at the Department of Tourism office in Lucknow on May 31 at noon. The deadline for submitting RFQs is June 23.
This initiative is taken to reduce traffic congestion on the roads. Tourists will soon be able to enjoy helicopter taxi services as initially, this helicopter service will operate in a few tourism-rich cities.
As per the published notification, Agra and Mathura heliports will be constructed under a public-private partnership (PPP). Many bids are expected for the Heli taxi service and the lowest bidder will be awarded the operation, maintenance and construction of the heliport. Requests for Qualifications Requests (RFQs) can be submitted online at etender.up.nic.in with the required fee on June 23 at 2 p.m. Any updates or changes will be posted on the website and uptourism.gov.in.
