SOME 873 public service jeepney (PUJ) and taxi drivers in Davao City have received cash assistance for fuel as oil prices continue to fluctuate in the global market.
Each driver received fuel assistance of PPP 3,000 from the city government through the City Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
The program falls under the Crisis Relief Department of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The city information office said in its report that as of Tuesday, April 19, a total of 873 PUJs and taxi drivers in Davao City had benefited from the cash assistance.
Habib Pagilongon, senior social work associate at CSWDO Davao, said the payment made at People’s Park was for the first and second batches of drivers they submitted to DSWD.
“Another batch is coming. Those who are interested can go to the nearest CSWDO district office and let the workers know that you want to benefit from this program,” Pagilongon also said.
He added that workers validate through the documents or evidence that drivers submit.
When paying, drivers were asked to bring the original and a photocopy of their barangay (village) certificate, a valid ID and a photocopy with signatures.
Pagilongon said those interested in benefiting from the program can message through CSWDO-Davao’s Facebook account.
